Ringwood Brewery was launched in 1978 by Peter Austin (below), known as "the father of micro-brewing". He was the former head brewer at the Hull Brewery, retired to Hampshire but felt the urge to make beer again after helping create Penhros Court Brewery on the Hereford-Welsh border with investment from Monty Python celebrity and beer lover Terry Jones.

Superb tour at the weekend. Hosting could not have been better and the tour was the highlight of a weekend in the New Forest. Could not help noticing thought that on a visit 20 years ago advertising for Ringwood brewery and beers was everywhere throughout the area.

Went on the Sunday 2:30pm tour accompanied by my brother-in-law who also had a voucher. The tour starts in a small bar off the small shop / reception with the four different Ringwood beers lined up on tap. You each receive a half pint mug (to keep) engraved with Ringwood Brewery and filled with Best Bitter - that's just to start.
